The initial purpose of this treatment was to find an instrument that was easy and pain free to let active ingredients pass the skin barrier. In 2000 the University of Marburg/Germany confirmed its efficacy (Dermaroller) of transdermal delivery (allowing active ingredients to penetrate through the skin barrier).

Experimenting with different needle sizes confirmed that this skin needling technique can induce new collagen and elastin from 200-1000%, as well as new capillaries. In 2004 Dermaroller was registered as a medical device and has taken the world by storm as the forefront of anti-aging and scar reduction treatments.
